You see, it was love at first sight.
"Oh. Em. Gee." I say loudly.
"Pussy cat, please don't say that, we're in public." The LG doesn't think words like OMG are cool enough to be in my vocabulary, let alone, anywhere near his. But, pussy cat is obviously appropriate.
"No, but seriously, look at the hat that that person [tourist] is wearing."
Color: Green.
Material: Palm tree leaves.
Stitch: woven. Hand woven.
Thoughts: Total tourist attire. I must have it.
And then, it was love at second sight.
"STOP this sand boogie!" I scream. (In Punta Cana, it's a boogie. Not a buggie. Teehehee)
I lurch forward as the LG brings our boogie to a complete stop on the side of the road. The boogie behind ours slams into us, but I don't notice.
"It's the hat! I have to have it!"
I quickly whip out some cash to hand over to the little 1/2 naked boy on the side of the road. He's selling hats made from palm leaves! So this is where that tourist bought his hat!
"How much?" I ask, too enthusiastically. I'm a tourist and I'm trapped.
"10 dollah, lady."
No haggling on this one. I hand over a bill.
"Go, go, go!" The tourists in the boogies behind us are annoyingly urging us to keep moving. They aren't interested in a hat. A hand woven one made from palm tree leaves, nonetheless. Some people just don't recognize quality like I do.
I grab the hat, place it on my head and grin. The LG presses the gas pedal with all his might and we fly forward.
I loved that hat.
