To Fake or Not to Fake? That is the Question.

For the past year, I have been doing something that one year ago, was so uncharacteristic of me.

I do it every month.

About once a month.

It makes me feel good.

Real good.

What is this fabulous thing that I do???
I get my nails did.

You all didn't know I had such beautiful nails, huh?
Kidding. Only kidding.

I do the solar nail thingy and pretty much have fake nails with a permanent french manicure. Last year, my friend was convincing enough to get me to want to try them and around the same time the LG professed his desire of me being able to scratch his back seductively. Apparently the pillows of my fingers were not doing anything for him.

So, I said, "Whatever, I'll try it."

Well, fast forward 12 months and I'm addicted. My nails are never broken. Always perfect (except for when I go too long in between refills). And very professional looking. I've received many a compliment. It just makes me feel so put together.

But lately I've been:

1. Admiring the dark nail polishes out there.

2. Admiring short and dark nails.

3. Thinking that I'm spending too much every month to beautify myself.

And so, I was thinking to have them taken off. I'm expecting them to look horrible and paper thin. But they'll be painted. And they'll be short. (The LG will just have to deal.)

But I'm not sure if I should do it. I need some advice from all of you fabulous fashionistas:

What is your honest take on the french/fake maniure? Should I stick with it? Or get rid of it?

i love fake nails over my nails because mine are so brittle but i love the short nail look too so i go either way.

the thing that sucks is you're going to hate your nails for a while after you take the fakies off. but at least you'll save lots of money!

I agree! I LOOOOOVE my fakies and I think they look very professional, especially when my hands are all over the overhead at work! But you definitely will save some money! Why not give it a shot and if you hate it just get em put back on??

Ditto to Mayra. I usually chip off even the fake ones, so I kinda suck in that matter, but save the money for some fabulous shoes :)

My nails are quite strong, they don't break easily. So I've never had fake nails. I prefer the natural short look and getting them done professionally is just too expensive for me.
I agree with Ambs, try without fake nails a while and if that doesn't work put them back on.
