My Day

Thankfully the pandemonium in my brain subsided by this afternoon.  It took some time, however, before I was able to relax.  Snow, as beautiful as it looks, makes me nervous to drive. I kind of have a miniature car: a VW Beetle. Without delving deep into my thoughts, I'll recap this morning's events just for your knowledge.

The Situation:
I left for work early in disbelief that school was not cancelled.  I knew my 25 minute commute would take extra long.  After an hour of driving, with my half-way point in the distance, I received a phone call that, in fact, our district was closing. Almost in tears, I turned around and headed for home.  Instead of relief, I felt anger because of my stupidity: I had left too soon.  You see, I go through phases with being on-time. At the beginning of the year, I get to school early.  During the winter months, I arrive exactly on time: 8:25. Midway between winter and spring, I get to school early again.  And then at the end of the school year I may or may not arrive around 8:26- give or take a few minutes.  Today, I was supposed to be in the "get to school at 8:25" phase.  Instead, I chose to break the phase, which was a bad choice. Some advice: don't ever interfere with a phase.

Anywhoo, after an hour commute back home, trouble getting into our parking lot (resulting in my waking up a sleepy LG...NOT a good situation) and shoveling the sidewalk, I plopped myself on the couch and took a 4 hour nap.

Some food and hours later, the LG and I ventured into the white abyss to...of all reasons to go out during a blizzard...go to Lowe's. Why? Just because it was a great time to shop. We were the only customers. And we bought a very much needed shovel.

The pictures:

Turkey Burger ala Julia
Yes, it's on an English Muffin.

The road on the way to Lowe's.

Me.  My arm looks like it's dislocated.

The crazy snow.
I love when the sky turns a salmonly color when it snows at night.

Chicken Soup ala the LG!

Aside from the crazy morning, today was a good day. :)

Here's hoping that your day was just as enjoyable!

Oh my goodness, that is the WORSE when you are already on your way to work and you find out it's closed for the day!

But on a bright note, that sandwich looks DELICIOUS!!

Oh wow, that snow looks INSANE! And that food is making me hungry. I haven't had a turkey burger in too long...

Also, I think I'm the only person that doesn't get mad about school or work getting cancelled once I've made the drive... I just feel relieved it's cancelled! ;)
