According to my mother:

A classy lady wears only one type of perfume.

Every time my teenage self would come home from the mall with some new smelly lotion or cheap perfume, my mother would remind me that classy ladies have one signature smell. This she modeled by owning only one bottle of perfume at a time. She used her perfume every day and when she ran out a new bottle was purchased- sometimes of the same perfume, other times a different brand. But it was always a careful decision.

During my 27th year of life, I broke the rule for the very first time. I went a little wild and bought a bottle of perfume even though I was not yet finished with my other one. ::gasp:: I justified my purchase because 1. I liked the scent. and 2. It was the same brand as my other perfume.

I now own three different types of perfume. But shhhh! Don't tell my mom!

When I get ready for work, I have three choices. But oddly enough, I typically reach for the same one each time. I think my mother's motto has been tattooed on my brain.
