Decorating Dilemma...help!

I am in the market for a new sofa. I need to get one pronto. My dream is to have a white sofa, just like this one from Ikea:
When I told the LG about getting a white couch, he exclaimed, "WHAT?!! Are you kidding? I'm never going to feel comfortable sitting on it, for fear I will get it dirty."  And he's right.  He tends to spill a lot when eating and drinking.

Side note: the first day that I met the LG, we were hanging out in his kitchen with some friends.  He was eating a Philly cheesesteak, while standing behind me.  Before I could say, "Wowzah!" his greasy mess tumbled from his hands and fell onto my head and new jacket. And the rest- ::sigh:: is history.

And me? I'm just one sloppy mess when I eat.  I get food all over my face and in my hair.  I might not realize that it's on me and then sit on the white couch. The couch may end up being stained a chocolate-y tint. From the Nutella, of course.

Anywhoo, a white couch might not be so great.

And so, I found this one (same couch, different color):

PINK!

Is it silly to get a pink couch? Is a white couch impractical?  Any suggestions??

I think either would be fabulous! The white is so clean and crisp! I couldn't do it personally but that's because of our dog and cat.

I like the white better but I would be way too nervous to own a white couch! If you can pull the pink off I say go for it! ;)
How does your man feel about a pink couch!?

This is a dilemma...I am such a messy eater too so I totally understand about the white couch. Pink could definitely work depending on the rest of the decor. Maybe a slipcover on the white when you guys are just chilling out? p.s. thanks for your comment :)

As you know we have that exact white couch. It comes with a removable slip cover which makes it very easy to wash. You can also bleach it when it starts to get yucky. We have had it for almost 8 years and have 2 cats (that use it daily). It has held up pretty well. If you are worried about stains just get some throw blankets and sit on those :)

i vote white if you can wash it easily. then it would be like one big cloth napkin, really. bonus! double-tasker!

i'm a devout leather coucher, though. so what do i know?

ps hello! :)

i've always liked that ikea couch. white would look so pristine but if you're anything like me (which it sounds like) that couch won't stay white for long. the pink is cute but i'm not one for pastels.

Thanks for the advice, girls! Missy, actually you are my inspiration...ever since I saw the white couch in your house..AND it looked so pristine...I had to have it.

Annie-my BF loves pink! He wears pink often (maybe once a week.) He is very much in style!

I'll keep you posted ladies- the ikea trip is this weekend. I'll have to decide when I get there!!!

The white is great, but the pink is really really wild, and I love it! Either or would be good.
