I must have been talking to a few of my kids about fairness and out of my mouth came something like, "Things need to be even-steven." Don't worry, I teach first grade, so it's cool to rhyme like that.
All of the sudden I hear a gasp and a shriek, "OH MY GOSH, MISS B!!! MY BROTHER'S NAME IS STEVEN!"
"NO WAY!" I reply jokingly (except Mia thinks I'm serious.)
"MISS B! MISS B! MISS B! GUUESSSSS WHAT?!" screams another girl, "HAILEY's BROTHER'S NAME IS STEVEN TOO!"
"Who's Hailey?" I ask curiously, being that we don't have a Hailey in our class.
"Oh she's that girl who rides bus 18. Steven is her brother's name!!"
"You're kidding!" I exclaim, having no idea who Hailey is.
Then Dennis runs over to me, "You'll never believe this! My neighbors' cousins' name is Steven, too!"
"WOW." I reply.
And that is precisely what I'm thinking...Wow. This is my life. And these are the daily conversations that I have with the 'people' I work with.
And you know what's funny?
I love it.
