We're down with NYC!

On Monday, Florian and I went on a little day trip to NYC.  We had a great time despite the all of the wackiness.  I think the best way to describe our trip would be to give a list of the events that occurred that day. Prepare yourself, this was quite an adventure!

11am: Leave for NYC.

11:30: Car almost gets hit by truck. (still in PA)

2pm: Still on the road.  Car almost gets hit by van.

2:30: Arrive safely at Bellvue Hospital parking lot.

2:35: Man taps on Florian's car to ask him to pull out of his spot.

2:36: Florian is visibly upset that his car has been touched.

2:37: Florian and Julia walk out of the parking lot towards food.

2:50: Still walking around for food.

3:15: Finally find restaurant that serves amaaazing burritos.

3:25: EATing

4:00: Decide to walk towards Empire State Building.

4:15: Get in line for ESB.

4:16: Learn that we have about a 2 hour wait to get to the top.

4:17: Leave ESB.

4:18: Decide to take subway to Battery Park for ferry to Statue of Liberty.

4:45: Arrive in Battery Park.  

4:46: Cannot find ferry for SL.

4:48: Find out that the last ferry leaves at 4:30.

5:00: Find ferry that will take us around the Statue of Liberty.

5:25: Buy tickets for that ferry for 7pm.

5:35: Decide to walk towards Financial District.

5:50: Stop and take pics on Wall Street.

6:20: Begin slowly walking back to Ferry.

6:35: Stop to get some water.

6:38: Continue on walk to Ferry.

6:45: Arrive in Battery Park.

6:47: See our Ferry.

6:48: See us run.

6:49: See Ferry pull away.

6:50: Confront ticket lady regarding our Ferry, who (when we tell her that they said the ferry would leave at 7pm) tells us that we should not get so specific with the time. Ha.

6:52: Realize that our ferry--the last one to SL--is not going to stop to wait for us.

6:53: Walk away from ferry lady.

7:00: Walk back to ferry lady to see what we can do.

7:05: Receive complimentary tickets for next week to get in the SL.

7:10: Begin walking back towards Brooklyn Bridge.

7:25: Plans change. Broadway show, perhaps?

7:33: Find express subway to Times Square.

7:45: Arrive in Times Square.

7:46: See us run, yet again, through Times Square to the Tkts office.

7:54: Arrive at Tkts office only to learn that they close in 6 minutes.

7:55: Watch Florian step away to leave Julia to pick tickets to a show she's never heard of.

7:56: Watch Julia panic to find the right musical for Florian's first Broadway Show.

7:57: Watch sweat trickle down Julia's forehead. Julia picks show. Show is sold out.

7:58: Lady cuts in front of Julia. Julia slaps $100 down and picks another show.

7:59: Man tells Julia that the tickets are $154. 

8:00: Man closes ticket office.

8:01: Florian stares at Julia.  Julia stares at Florian.  Happy words are not being uttered at the moment.

8:02: Begin walking to Empire State Building, this time to stand in line.

8:15: Florian is handed two cards for Comedy Club.

8:25: The couople decides to cheer up and go see a comedy show.

8:30: Show begins.

8:35: Watch tension disappear.  

8:36: Watch Julia and Florian laugh hysterically at comedians.

10:00: Leave comedy club laughing.

10:30: Arrive at Empire State Building and get in line.

11:15: Finally make it to the top of the building. Take pictures.

11:30: Leave ESB.

11:40: Take bike ryksha to Bellvue Hospital parking lot.

11:55: Arrive at parking lot.

11:56: Discover parking lot empty and dark.

11:57: Watch Florian run to see where his car should be.

11:58: Listen to Julia read sign that says "Cars left in parking lot after 11 pm will have to be picked up the following business day."

11:59: Watch Florian run the other way towards other parking lot to ask someone about his car.

12:02: Florian and Julia walk/run to hospital.

12:10: Miraculously stumble upon another parking lot.

12:13: See Florian's smile as he sees his car.

12:14: Watch Julia laugh with relief.

12:20: Pull out of parking lot and make the 3 hour trek back to good 'ole PA.
