So proud...

Last week, while I was sitting outside at a local cafe with a dear friend, a man approached me and asked if I was Italian because apparently as I was talking, I was flailing my arms around (you know, to make a point).  I said no and proudly told him that I was Polish.  And much to my surprise, he said, "I wouldn't admit that if I were you."  The nerve!  All I could think to do is to stare at him with my mouth wide open and reply, "Excuuuse me???"

Such ignorance made me so mad...I am still thinking of this three days later!  Yes, I realize that there are plenty of Polish jokes bashing the intelligence of the Poles.  I laugh at those jokes, but I know that they are simply jokes.  Poland is a beautiful country populated with wonderful and intelligent people.

This experience really influenced me to spread some of my excitement about my country, specifically the city in which I was born.  The picture below is of the Main Market Square in Wroclaw (pronounced vrotz-whaff) called Rynek.  Rynek is really the heart of Wroclaw.  It's a great place to meet friends, sit down and relax at a cafe, go to a bar or disco, walk through the narrow alleyways to discover cute jewelry shops, and look at the brightly painted buildings. Rynek has a very relaxed, yet vibrant atmosphere, which I love!

The last time I visited Wroclaw, I had the best dessert ever...blueberry pierogi!  You might have had pierogi stuffed with sauerkraut, potatoes, cheese, mushrooms, or any combination of the four ingredients.  Those are great, but what's even better is fruit pierogi.  They come stuffed with fresh fruit, like strawberry, blueberry, and cherry.  The delectability (is that a word?) of these pierogi is so hard to describe.  Just trust me....they're delicious.
Ohhhhh...these are just exploding with blueberry deliciousness!
