So what does a teacher do

during the summer?? Well, right now, besides packing, moving, tutoring, and going to the pool, I have begun reading Island by Aldous Huxley.  For all of you who have read and perhaps enjoyed Brave New World by the same author, or George Orwell's 1984, this one is in the same genre.  Although I do not consider myself a fan of science fiction, I do enjoy reading about utopian societies.  I have only just started this book and I am already intrigued by the main character, Will Farnaby, who is shipwrecked on the fictional island of Pala.  He begins to meet the inhabitants, including parrots that have been trained fly around reciting uplifting slogans.  I am looking forward to further delving into this book...anyone read this before??
